A creative response to Article 50

‘We pool resources, question, collaborate, make an experience to broaden our minds, expand our reach and widen our worldview’. These are the words of Londonon, a community of London based architecture practices on the challenge of exploring global opportunity together. We got involved by contributing a visual identity and website in time for the triggering of Article 50. More about this project here.

BOB's Rethink of British Summertime

It was the height of summer when BOB was asked to do a rethink for ICON Magazine for their September edition. It was also, ironically, pouring with rain. We decided not to let the weather dampen our spirits and instead used it to our advantage as inspiration for our rethink of the British Summertime.

Happy 2015 from BOB

Last year we teamed up with 20 graphic design students from Kingston University and the Swiss bindery Bubu to ask them to reinvent the book-as-object; to suggest new ways it can fit into the modern world.

Three playful, thoughtful and industrious weeks later we selected Jack Beveridge's 'Pocket Book' as a beautiful blend of craft, creativity and connection with the everyday. We felt this was the perfect 2015 gift for our wider circle of friends and their pockets.

Planning Approval for MSCP
Supergraphics

We were delighted to hear that Haptic Architects ’ proposal to re-clad the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park multi-storey car park (MSCP) has been granted approval. We worked with Haptic to design the supergraphics for this new structure, re-using hundreds of the off-cuts punched from the cladding during production to create large-scale iconography.

MSCP forms part of the wider London Legacy strategy and development of Here East and will also serve users of the Copper Box and the Velopark. Its construction will commence on site later this year.

Bibliophile Brief Winners Announced
Kingston University

After much deliberation the Bibliophile brief winners were announced this week by Kieran, Mireille and Hans Burkhardt from BUBU. Kingston’s energetic students submitted 20 final projects and such was the quality of their creativity and invention (a book which doubled as a table lamp, a living book that required regular watering and a book that inflated to the width of any given bookshelf to name just a few) two winners and three runners up were chosen.

Bibliophile Brief
Kingston University

Mireille teamed up with her father Hans Burkhardt from the Swiss bookbinder BUBU this week in setting a live brief to Kingston University's third year graphic design students. The challenge — to reinvent the book with one eye on the future — was introduced to the students with a nod to the past… an unearthed film of the production process at BUBU shot by Mireille's grandfather in 1951.

Working the Land

This week saw our work on Haptic Architects' 'Working The Land' Exhibition come to fruition.

Hosted by Buro Happold in their London headquarters showspace, this show presents Haptic's recent work and an insight into the practice’s ethos. We created the interior graphic scheme for the show and all event literature including a very haptic embossed/debossed invitation with a fluorescent flash of colour.

Introducing the Brand

We travelled to Norway this week to introduce the Nordic identity to the practice’s team of 120 staff and assembled press. We took over the Colosseum Kino — Northern Europe’s largest cinema standing only metres from the Nordic offices — to tell the story, from one set of creatives to another, of how the branding process took shape.

Rooflife
London Festival of Architecture

Our studio's population increased tenfold last weekend as it became a venue for the London Festival of Architecture. Haptic transformed our roof into an urban oasis — a garden from which guests could take in 360° views of London and accessorise their cocktails from a jungle of planted herbs. We created the identity and literature for the event as well as graphics to guide guests upwards and outwards.
